Anna Maskava is a visual artist based in Riga, Latvia. Her artistic practice includes performance art, photography and exploration of points of intersection between performance and photography or other media. Most of her work reflects upon the artist's personal experience and is rooted in autobiographical impulses and in-depth research of her identity. Her creative practice is engaged with the investigation of personal mythology, animistic worldview, archetypal manifestation of the body and individual experience as a part of the collective history and memory. Maskava’s performance pieces often include ritualistic, repetitive actions and durational processes aimed at questioning the perception of time and examining the transformative states of consciousness with the tools of visual art.
