From June 30 to July 9, the new project of Petko Tanchev, produced by the DA Lab Foundation within the e-valuation 2.0 platform, will be presented in Depoo Gallery, Sofia.
The mission of the platform is to stimulate and produce artists in the field of digital arts and their presentation, in order to develop and promote contemporary art forms created with digital media and technologies. In the second edition of the platform in 2022, the projects of Mihaela Lakova and Petko Tanchev were selected to receive a production grant and assistance from the DA LAB Foundation team for the creation of the new works. The new projects are presented as solo exhibitions at the Depoo Gallery in Sofia, ul. Vrabcha 12B.
The first exhibition is an interactive installation by Petko Tanchev Metascape.
Metascape is an autonomous and interactive 3D simulation that interprets the social ecosystem of the new digital reality - the metaverse. The virtual space of this metascape builds itself parametrically in real time, and the generative objects have the ability to transform viewers into elements of their own geometry. The content uses custom render processes, motion tracking techniques, computer vision libraries (OpenCV), data visualization components. Metascape's software code creates a kind of model of personal identification in the context of the technological experience.
In his work, Petko Tanchev uses software systems and media content with an experimental focus. Among his projects are a number of installations for national and international festivals, digital performances, scenographic projects, mapping projections, video art works, interactive designs in the field of performing arts.
The exhibition is curated by Associate Professor Dr. Venelin Shurelov, co-founder of the DA LAB Foundation.

ABOUT THE AUTHOR:
Petko Tanchev holds a Master's Degree in Scenography from the National Academy of Arts, Sofia (2010), and later continued his studies as a PhD student in Digital Arts at the National Academy of Arts. Since 2016 he teaches the course "Visual Programming Tools" in the same specialty. He is co-founder of the audiovisual collective Melformator and Senselab studio. In his work as a visual artist, Petko Tanchev uses software systems and media content with an experimental focus. His professional activity includes a number of original installations for national and international festivals, digital performances, scenographic projects, mapping projections, video art works, interactive designs in the field of performing arts.
ABOUT THE PLATFORM:
"e-valuation" is a platform aimed at the promotion and development of artists in the field of digital arts. The title of the platform is a reference to the meaning of the concepts of "value" and "value", in the technical and aesthetic context of digital media, and explores the possibilities to transform impersonal values of the medium into socially relevant values. It seeks to understand what matters to authors who have chosen digital forms for artistic expression and how they respond to the themes and challenges of the "new normal," as we call the current pandemic period.

DA LAB Foundation was established in October 2018 with the mission to initiate, produce and organize projects in the field of digital arts in Bulgaria, to support Bulgarian artists in their development, as well as to carry out cooperation with artists and cultural organizations on the national and international scene. The founders of the foundation are Venelin Shurelov, Galina Dimitrova-Dimova and Antoni Raizhekov - artists and curators with extensive experience in the field of contemporary and digital arts, organizers of the international festival for digital arts DA Fest, as well as lecturers at the Master's Program "Digital Arts" of the National Academy of Arts, Sofia. Among the most popular and successful projects of the Foundation is the International Digital Arts Festival DA FEST, organized in partnership with the National Academy of Arts, Online Platform "Dictionary - Digital Art".
