Digital Arts Dictionary Platform

The dictionary is a wiki platform for sharing information on digital arts, technologies, and culture. The content includes concepts, authors, significant events, and helpful information related to the theory and practices of digital art. The dictionary was created by teachers, doctoral students, students, and interns from the Master's program in Digital Arts at the National Academy of Arts.

It was initiated in 2008 as part of the educational process in the subject "History and Theory of Digital Arts," led by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Venelin Shurelov.

One Person

The project "One Person" proposes the construction of a high-tech interactive installation in an urban environment. The installation is a complex technological structure with strictly defined functions. Visually, the object represents an anthropomorphic human figure, constructed from a modular steel truss structure with double-sided LED screens. Dynamic content is submitted to the screens, generated by a computer algorithm in two modes, in constant self-actualization.

2019 – “Technical obsolescence” – students' projects' exhibition, Gallery ”One Monev”

The theme of this year's annual exhibition of the Master's program in "Digital Arts" at NHA revolves around the concept of technical obsolescence. The material existence of technological objects is short-lived. Technological ephemera leaves traces in both city dumps and galleries. Technological optimism, progressivism, digital euphoria, technomania, and techno-utopias stimulate production processes, with planned obsolescence playing a significant role in them.
