Short description (max. 150 words)
Sweepcase is an interactive sound installation that takes the form of an ordinary, empty suitcase - inviting audience members to place arbitrary, everyday objects inside. Once the case is closed, the system translates the material characteristics of the objects inside into sound, generating a unique sonic composition with each interaction. Through this simple gesture, Sweepcase transforms unseen, untagged objects into ephemeral soundscapes, questioning the stability of meaning and authorship, where agency is redistributed among the audience, the objects, the system, and the artists - dissolving fixed roles in favor of a participatory performance. By sonifying the material presence of the mundane, the work seeks reflection on the poetic potential of matter, the performative qualities and the hidden metaphors embedded in the everyday objects. In doing so, Sweepcase opens a space for playful inquiry into how we assign value and generate meaning through interaction.
